Welcome to my modest little place on the world wide web, and thanks for checking out my work.
I’m primarily a nature photographer, usually wildlife, and I have lots of access to wildlife in Colorado. My main goal is to capture some of the individual personality of each of the animals I photograph – to document not just a fox, for instance, but to show something of that specific fox, something unique about that individual animal. Many of the species I photograph are threatened by climate change - pikas and marmots in particular - and may not be around much longer. All animals are wild and photographed in their natural environment unless otherwise specified.
This is a return to photography for me. I still have my old Canon T70 and some manual focus lenses, but as a poor undergraduate and then graduate student, the cost of film and processing was just too much, and photography took a backseat to other interests. Digital imaging is a welcome change.
I’m currently using Sony Alphas – a700 and a100, and most commonly shoot with either a:
Sigma 300mm f/2.8 with and without a 1.4Teleconverter
Sigma 24-70 f/2.8
Sigma 17-35 f/2.8-4
Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro
Sony 50mm f/1.4
All gear carried in LowePro camera bags
All images shot in RAW and processed in Adobe Lightroom. I tend to do very little in the way of post-processing - minor cropping, White Balance and light adjustment, and a bit of sharpening. I NEVER add any elements to my images and only rarely clone anything out. The image you're seeing is pretty close to what I saw when I took it.
Some of the pictures you will see here are from hikes, backpacking, peak-bagging, and snowshoeing trips, or just plain photo excursions in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, or other places as listed. I will add new images on a regular basis. This is an outlet that grew from my interest and years of experience in the outdoors, including hiking, backpacking, and mountaineering.
All wildlife photos represent wild animals in their natural habitat unless specified otherwise in the description.Images in the STOCK folder are already exclusively licensed by stock agencies and are not available. All other images are available as fine art prints as well as exclusive and no-exclusive stock use as JPEG, TIFF, and DNG formats.
Please note that the watermark seen on images online is NOT present on prints or electronic files, it is only applied online as a preventative measure.
